Samsung launches Galaxy On8 with Infinity Display and rear dual cameras in India at Rs 16,990

With an aim to strengthen its hold in the mid-range segment, Samsung has launched the Galaxy On8 with an ‘Infinity Display’ and rear dual cameras with Artificial Intelligence (AI)-capabilities. The company claims that the AI allows users to tinker with the foreground and background of an image and deliver "professional grade" photographs. The Galaxy On8 is an online exclusive smartphone which will be available on Flipkart, and on Samsung Online Shop from August 6. The Galaxy On8 is launched at an introductory price of Rs 16,990 and comes bundled with offers like No Cost EMI, Special Data Offers and more. Samsung Galaxy On8 Specifications: The phone is claimed to come with the industry-first, AI-powered dual-camera features. The primary camera of the setup on the back has a 16MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture. The secondary 5MP lens has a f/1.9 aperture. On the front, Samsung has incorporated a 16MP sensor with f/1.9. The dual-camera setup at the back delivers Samsung’s flagship ‘Live Focus’ feature with which users can bring focus to the foreground while blurring out the background. The smartphone sports a 6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The Infinity Display provides nearly 15 percent more display area without increasing the overall size of the device. Galaxy On8 has a polycarbonate unibody and runs on Android Oreo 8.0 OS. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor and comes in 4GB RAM + 64GB storage (expandable up to additional 256GB). It houses a large 3,500 mAh battery. The Galaxy On8 also has Background Blur Shape, Portrait Dolly, and Portrait Backdrop features. With Background Blur Shape, users can add soft light effect in different contextual shapes. The Portrait Dolly feature delivers a moving GIF image with zoom movements in the background for a cinematic photography experience. Samsung has also included a ‘Made for India’ “Chat Over Video” feature with which users can watch videos while chatting. The feature has a transparent keyboard that pops up over the video so that users can type while watching content on the smartphone. Another ‘Make For India’ feature, Samsung Mall, is pre-loaded in the phone. The feature uses AI to let users shop by clicking a picture of the desired product and automatically getting results for the item across popular e-commerce platforms.
