OnePlus 3 and 3T to skip Android 81 update to go straight to Android P

If you are a OnePlus 3 or OnePlus 3T owner, then there is good news for you. On its official forum page, OnePlus has announced that the OnePlus 3 and 3T will get the Android P update. This means that 5 OnePlus phones will be updated to Android P – OnePlus 3, 3T, OnePlus 5, 5T and the OnePlus 6. On its forum page OnePlus says, “Over the past few months, we have been working closely with Google on the Android P Beta program. Thanks to everyone’s participation and continued feedback, the progress we have made together has been greatly accelerated. The Android P update will be available on the OnePlus 6, OnePlus 5/T and OnePlus 3/3T, in this order. We will keep you all updated in the coming months.” However, it must be noted that the company is focusing on bringing Android P to the OnePlus 3 and 3T and is hence forgoing the Android 8.1 update for the 2 smartphones. For those interested, Android P Developer Preview 4, which is the Public Beta 3 release, is live for eligible phones like the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL and even the OnePlus 6. This release includes the final APIs (API level 28) along with the official SDK, the latest system images, and updated developer tools. You can read more about it here. The OnePlus 5 and 5T also recently received Prjoect Treble support with OxygenOS Open Beta version 13 and 11, respectively. With support for Google's Project Treble, the OnePlus 5 and 5T will now get faster software updates.  In other Android P news, it was recently revealed that the Android P could stand for Pistachio. You can read more about the name leak here.
